Exploration games: Time Based

Time trials is the very basic sort of time based mechanic. Racing to beat the time is exciting.

Moderation needs to be key. This element needs to be carefully placed within the pacing in order for the gameplay not to get stale.

Holding out for a time is also a well used mechanic - especially almost 'horde' modes.
